Eighth Blog Prompt
In the book, The Ocean at the End of the Lane, the three Hempstock women are the Triple Goddess because they wasn't conceived the natural way. Triple Goddesses are known as the Mother, Maiden and Crone archetypes. The Goddesses and the Hempstock women are in different stages of life. Lettie is young and innocent, Ginnie is the mother who is living her life and Old Mrs. Hempstock is the Crone, who is the most powerful than all of the other women. The Hempstocks and the Triple Goddesses are similar because they represent the three stages in a female's life. Lettie is portrayed as the Maiden because of her age. Mrs.Hempstock is portrayed as the Mother because of her concerned, motherly nature. Old Mrs.Hempstock is portrayed as the Crone because she is older and powerful. The Hempstocks are believed to have powers that others do not have.
